A few days ago I found this Carmen item on eBay and bought it. It's been sitting on my desk for three days, still in the shrinkwrap. I've never seen this appear on Laurie's Carmen merchandise page. Any of the older fans know what this might be about? Google turns up absolutely nothing. The front: The back: My internal Comic Book Guy tells me I should leave it shrinkwrapped so if I ever have to sell it off, I can fetch it a higher price (that's if VHS is still around years from now)...

That's intriguing! Could you really leave it like that? Aren't you at least a little curious? Because I am!

No clue what that is. If I had to guess, it was some sort of promotional idea for one of the games.
But I am curious though. If you do decide to open it and watch it let us know.

......... The tape's pretty short (ends abruptly at seven minutes) -- I'm not sure what's up with it, though. Anyone willing to TV capture this tape to share the world? As you can see, I don't have the equipment for taping.I can't find the words to describe the sheer OMGWTFness of this tape. I think I'll try and summarize in as many (or as little) listed points as possible since writing a coherent and comprehensive paragraph of this tape seems to be nigh impossible. 1. It's pretty campy, to say the least. 2. The tape's background seems to be based on the earlier Carmen games...the ones that made you answer a question before you could get promoted. 3. Carmen sounds like an upper class (maybe aristocratic?) Englishwoman. Yeah, she speaks with a British accent. Carmen wears the fur coat from the early years of the franchise (see #2) as opposed to the trenchcoat. Hit the link above if you want to view a 53-second sample and baffle yourselves.

W....T....F..... was.... that...?? I bet Heather could do it. The TV Capture thing that is. I'm off to go talk to her. This I must see in it's entirety. How utterly bizzarre. Now I have a new mission in life. To find out wtf this tape was oriignally for. Promotional? A joke? New Series idea? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... Once again, Leonia, I must congratulate you on your ability to sniff out the obscure.

Jesus Christmas, wtf indeed! Fo shizzle, that tape looks campier than the drag queens at last weekend's Pride parade! And I love it. I dunno about aristocratic Englishwoman- to me, Carmen seemed a lot like a young Katharine Hepburn with a really bad perm. Leonia, grazi grazi for a) buying this & b) sharing it with us! That's quite a gem you got there! Laters- "I have places to go and things to...borrow."

And her interviewer is...now were my ears going nuts or was he...named 'Hot Flash'? That was erm...campy. Carmen's outfit reminds me of the old 'Where in Time' costume. www.kyranthia.net/Oldtime.jpg

And her interviewer is...now were my ears going nuts or was he...named 'Hot Flash'? I had the volume turned way, way up when recording the video...and yes, the interviewer was named "Stewart/Stuart Hotflash." The interviewer is actually the missing Agent Upright mentioned on the tape cover.

Like they did the shoot for hte box cover and that lil tape on same day type deal. and the hair... I found a sprite with that hair that I thought when i found it THANK THE GODS they changed her hairstyle because... it just doesn't strike me as Carmen. WTF. NO! THAT IS NOT CARMEN! - and yet it is. (I guess we all have fashoin disaster periods in our lives were not proud of)

Wow... I'm stunned. Is there a year on that video? I'm curious to know exactly how old it really is.
As for the actress, I must say I hear neither a British accent nor a Katherine Hepburn accent in her voice. Rather, I could swear I've heard that voice before, but couldn't tell you the actress' name. (I first thought it was Sigourney Weaver, but I know that it's not her.) Are there any credits? It's going to drive me nuts until I hear her name...

Either my VCR needs to be cleaned, or there's something wrong with the tape as it cuts abruptly in the middle of the interview -- there aren't any credits AFAIK.

Wow... it's like it's lost in time... forget selling this one. That right there might just be a collector's item.
I can picture the actress as some sort of sitcom mom or (strangely enough) as a nun... grr.

Oh, LOL!!! Mr. Hotflash... You can't possibly think of selling this. It's too much of a rarity!! Like Kyrieeleison said, a collector's item.
